St. Martin Beaches

St. Martin
St.Martin Island
St. Martin is a small, tropical island in the Caribbean Sea; as such, it is home to several well-known - and some lesser known - beach destinations. What makes St. Martin unique is that the island territory is split between two nations; France to the north and the Netherlands to the south. Thus by traveling from one side of the country to the other tourists can get two totally different cultural experiences.

On the north side of the island, travelers can let it all hang out at several nude beaches or can cover up in style by shopping at any of the island's many tax-free couture boutiques. During the day you can sip imported wines while you sail around the topmost edge of the island, and at night you can indulge in fine French cuisine.

Regardless of which side of the island you choose, you'll have many beautiful St. Martin beaches at your disposal. on the French side of the island, by far the most acclaimed seaside destination is Orient Beach which offers some of the clearest waters in the Caribbean and a large hiking area which has been preserved in its natural state

Despite an absence of nude beaches, the southern half of St. Martin is actually more laidback. The Dutch side of the island is notorious for its wild parties, fruity drinks and 24-hour casinos. You can go the traditional route by renting a room at any of several top-rated tourist resorts, or you can go off the map and get your own authentic seaside villa.

St. Martin
On the St. Maarten side the beaches are smaller, cozier and less pretentious. You'll get your share of sun and sand at the Little Bay, Maho and Dawn beaches without having to fight for a good spot.
