South Carolina Beaches

South Carolina’s most popular beaches can be found at Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head Island, and near Charleston. All offer beautiful beaches, but there is much more to discover at these popular holiday spots. Golfing, shopping, fishing, and historic sightseeing are exciting activities offered at these beach destinations.

The Myrtle Beach area spans 60 miles, known as the Grand Strand, and is one of the most visited beaches in South Carolina. It is a family favorite with its choice of amusement parks, water parks, water sports, go karts, arcades, and a variety of Ripley‘s attractions such as Ripley‘s Believe It or Not and Ripley‘s Haunted Adventure.

Hilton Head Island
Hilton Head Island is famous for its golf courses and some believe its beaches are the most beautiful in the state. In addition to being the most beautiful, all beaches on the island are public, and therefore access is free. Pier fishing is a popular activity because a license is not required for ocean fishing on Hilton Head.

Although Charleston is 30 miles from the coastline, it attracts a lot of tourists, not only because of its proximity to pristine beaches, but also because of the historic preservation of the city. Founded in 1670, it is one of the best preserved examples of the Old South, with 70 pre-Revolutionary war buildings, and 600 buildings constructed before the 1840’s. The beaches at nearby Isle of Palms offer fishing, boating, golfing, and shopping and entertainment close by.

When planning a beach holiday, South Carolina is an ideal choice. With beautiful beaches, golf courses, and plenty of family entertainment, there is something for everyone.
