The Beaches of the Dominican Republic

Domincan Republic
Almost 800 miles of the Dominican Republic’s coastline is beautiful beaches. The Dominican Republic is located on the eastern two thirds of the island Hispaniola. Due to the high content of coral, most beaches are a brilliant white and the water ranges from a crystal clear light blue to a deep blue. With so much coastline, the Dominican Republic has a beach that’s just right for everyone.

If you’re looking for shopping, entertainment and nightlife, the beaches at Punta Cana may be just what you desire. Punta Cana is one of the Dominican Republic’s most popular beach destinations and has many beachfront resorts. Along with the sand and sun, there are also various restaurants, nightclubs, local shops and bars.

Puerto Plata on the northern side of the island is home to another well known beach destination. Here, the soft white sands and clear aquamarine water along with an offshore coral reef formation make for an excellent snorkeling experience. There are also several more secluded beaches in the area if you prefer a more private beach going experience.

Monte Christi, Dominican Republic
On the southern coastline, the capital Santo Domingo is home to quite a few beaches. Families looking to enjoy the water with children appreciate the calm shallow waters at Boca Chica beach, while those looking to enjoy the sand look to Juan Dolio beach for fun in the sun activities such as beach volleyball and sunbathing. The beaches in the Santo Domingo area also offer many water activities such as snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing and much more.
